Coastal Brittany

As the leading destination in France for holidays by the sea, Brittany offers all kinds of coastal activities, whether you are looking for relaxation, fitness or sports activities. It is also the leading French region for water sports. Each year, around 500,000 people visit the region to enjoy sailing, kayaking and scuba diving. To accommodate them, Brittany has 120 sailing schools, 230 water sports centres and 52,000 spaces for leisure boats. From the beaches of La Torche to those in Crozon, Guidel and Quiberon, the region, along with Landes, is a very popular destination for surfing.
It has also become a centre for thalassotherapy. Renowned for the quality of the treatments offered, the region is at the national forefront and represents a third of the French market.

Green Brittany

Inland Brittany is full of hidden charms: moors, forests, wooded countryside, swamps, bogs, etc. Due to the diversity and the quality of its natural environments, Brittany is a prime area for many species of bird: of the 415 species in Western Europe, 263 can regularly be seen in Brittany.

This natural wealth can be discovered thanks to more than 12,000 km of marked walking trails. The GR 34, also called the Sentier des Douaniers, offers a 1,700 km long hiking trail, with around 100 listed routes.

Another way to discover Brittany is by boat thanks to 600 km of waterways. A quality label, "Escale d'une Rive à l’Autre" (a stopover between one river and another) recognises 29 stopover cities, each of which has a remarkable natural and river heritage and offers leisure activities to boaters.
Holidaymakers looking for rural tourism will be welcomed all year round at more than 300 farms (farm camps, cottages, guesthouses, etc.).

Cultural Brittany

With more than 2,900 buildings classified as historical monuments, Brittany is the leading French region in terms of heritage, after Ile-de-France. This heritage is characterised in particular by its exceptional religious, military, maritime and archaeological diversity. Menhirs and dolmens from the prehistoric period, half-timbered houses in old Medieval towns, churches, monasteries and chapels built in the periods following the end of the Roman art era, castles and manors, and fortified cities can be found in Brittany.
Around sixty cities and towns carry the labels "Petites Cités de Caractère" (small city with character), "Villes Historiques" (historic city), "Villes d'Art et d'Histoire" (city of art and history) and "Communes du Patrimoine Rural de Bretagne" (Breton town of rural heritage). They offer visitors quality activities and facilities (guided tours, historic shows, exhibitions, craft shops, charming hotels, etc.).
